In practice and ceremony this morning Ana Forrest put us into some long holds of poses like Warrior 2, Eagle Ostrich, Head to Ankle and more....and then she asked us to create freedom in these moments without struggling for it. We played with melting into the moment instead of struggling past it! And the most amazing openings happened. For me the openings were emotional and mental in nature - other students got into new physical spaces. The next time you get into one of your "hot poses" on the mat, not only breathe deeply but also make a commitment to stop struggling to get past the something in your way and face it. Along the way, learn to breathe through transitions instead of rushing through them mindlessly at best and injuriously at worst.
