In real life, King needs queen By Isah V. Red Dingdong Dantes is the crowned Primetime King in his TV kingdom. Marian Rivera is the Queen. Yet, in real life, the king and queen have not tied the knot to make their titles official in a real life kingdom. “Of course, we think about it,” said Dong over dinner at Romulo’s Café in Quezon City before the long weekend. “But Marian and I are not planning to make it official any sooner. Maybe before I reach 40.” Dantes is now in his early ‘30s, and still enjoying his life as a bachelor, although not as a man about town. He is deeply committed to his future queen. And talks are rife that they are sharing the same roof whenever possible, although the actor keeps mum about it. He’d rather talk about his career. Through the years, the Kapuso Primetime King has proven to be worthy of the title given him. He is at the peak of his career and is staying there for the longest time. With all the recognitions he’s been getting recently, there’s no way he’d start his trek downwards. This year alone, Dantes bagged the Best Actor award from Gawad Tanglaw Awards and Film Actor of the Year award from the 44th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Entertainment Awards. For many of his followers, these awards are but a minuscule proof that the industry is giving him the importance he deserves. Dantes is one of the busiest and most in-demand actors today. She’s The One, in which he is paired for the first time with Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo, already earned P100 million in the box-office on its first two weeks. The movie is now on its third week. In addition, Dingdong is also back on primetime scene with GMA-7’s new TV series titled Genesis. In the show, Dingdong plays the role of Isaak Macalintal, a member of Presidential Security Group who has so much love for his family, for the people, and for the country. Genesis has been getting a lot of positive reviews since its pilot telecast because of its unique concept, good performances, and exceptional visual effects. Even the network executives are very happy with the outcome of their Primetime King’s new series. GMA Entertainment TV’s Officer-In-Charge, Lilybeth G. Rasonable’s said in a statement about Kapuso’s newest series, “We are proud of Genesis because it is another proof of GMA Drama’s commitment to give the audience groundbreaking programs. We do not depart from the time-tested story of love and sacrifice which our core viewers patronize, but we strive to tell these stories in novel ways to keep our audience interested and excited.” With all his achievements, there’s no doubt that Dingdong Dantes is still at the top, enjoying the success of his showbiz career. manilastandardtoday/2013/11/05/in-real-life-king-needs-queen/
