In response to a comment on one of my Facebook posts, I thought I would give you all a little personal history! For me, life is about balance and harmony. Back in 1969 I turned 25. The five years from 1967 to 1972 were filled with much activity. I completed my degree in History, Psychology and Sociology in 1966. I travelled throughout Europe until 1967. I watched the boys I knew being swallowed up by the Viet Nam War. We landed men on the moon in 1969. I was thrilled as at 13 I had actually written a poem about space when Sputnik was launched in 1957 and we heard the beep beep over the loud speakers in our Elementary School. I seriously considered then rejected living in an Ashram (!) in Los Angeles. Some I knew joined the new Peace Corps and then the boys were drafted into the army as soon as they got home! I was involved in the Civil Rights Movement, Womens Liberation and marched/protested against war. In 1971, when they shot the students at Kent State we became even more active! Things were so terrible that I sought out a psychologist and had 2 years of intensive therapy. I read a lot of Science Fiction and started attending conventions. I became active in promoting space exploration for peace and settlement. I moved to California and fought for legalisation of marijuana as head of the Santa Barbara County group at the time. I almost did not have children but in the end I decided I would raise good people so I had 3 of them! I moved to England in 1981. I got my Masters Degree in Information Systems in 1990 and started my 16-year teaching career at university. I became a dual citizen when George Bush was re-elected. My parents died. My children grew up and now I have two adorable grandsons (yes I am biased!). When I retired in 2005, I spent the next few years going into local Primary Schools giving school assemblies about Peace to the children, organized a Walk for Peace, and gave out over 15,000 World Peace Flame tea light candles. I started meditating daily. I also spent 5 years going to California a dozen times or so to help my ex who had fallen, broken his neck, and become a quadriplegic. I also fell in 2008 and broke my left shoulder, knee and ankle and have spent the following years exercising and getting strong again. I have been active politically as well as spiritually. I have been on a few marches In London, Manchester and Leeds. I attended The Peoples Assembly and wrote post cards every day for 6 months to various politicians. I also attended many retreats, read lots of books (especially the Conversations with God books), and found many kindred spirits in both realms! Today I am so busy I have to enforce rest time on myself! As I have chronic pain and a physical disability I have learned to be careful what I eat - mostly organic - vegetarian diet. I take supplements and exercise regularly. Although I am 70, I do not feel that age, and most people who meet me for the first time cannot believe it! I am usually good tempered, though I have my grumpy moments. My favourite doll when I was a child was Raggedy Ann who had a heart on her chest that said I LOVE YOU and in the stories about her, flowers grew in her footsteps. Love has been the cornerstone of my life. Now I am no longer afraid or cautious about spreading as much love, joy, kindness, and tolerance as I can! I think I have done well in my life. I support my family and friends in any way I can and treat everyone the way I hope they will treat me. I have overcome every obstacle 100% in my life. I loved the 60s - both the 1960s and the decade I was in my 60s!! I am excited about what will come in my life though I do hope we can get the world headed in a better direction...away from the Wealthy & Powerful having it all and towards equality, fairness, and justice for every person on the earth. We have enough resources, talent, and inventiveness to save our species if we concentrate our efforts appropriately! This beautiful earth will continue without us, if we dont succeed in saving ourselves from destruction. I personally am going to keep working for peace. Thats me, in a nut shell!
