In response to the news of Robin Williams death, share this with your friends: I have gone through crisis intervention training and one of the first things you realize is that people dont often tell you when theyre feeling depressed. Mental illnesses still have a HUGELY negative stigma associated with them and often the people that need the help are too ashamed to ask for it. So let all your friends know about this: In the United States, there is a free, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) where people literally are volunteering their time to help people dealing with suicidal thoughts because they want to be there and help. If a phone call is intimidating (which is totally okay!) then check out imalive.org where you can chat online, completely anonymously, with someone who is also volunteering to help because they care. So if you are dealing with depression, especially if you are considering harming yourself, and you cant find help, please reach out to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline or to IMAlive. Because regardless of your decisions, there are people out there that care.
