In response to the widespread power outages across the city, the City of Fredericton EMO is setting up a reception/charging station at the Fredericton Convention Centre, 670 Queen Street. The charging station will be open tonight (July 5) from 6 pm to 12 midnight, and again on Sunday, July 6 from 8 am to 8 pm. The charging station will be located in Ballrooms C & D. Please use the Queen Street entrance to the building. The Red Cross will be on hand to serve coffee and water. Trees are down throughout the city. City crews have been working hard to keep streets open. A full assessement of tree cleanup will follow. Residents are reminded that to report power outages and/or trees across wires, please call NB Power at 1-800-663-6272. In the event of downed trees and power lines, use extreme caution. For non-emergency calls related to the storm, i.e., trees down (not involving wires), localized street flooding, items blowing around, etc., please call 460-2038 or 460-2996. The City advises motorists to be careful when travelling along Royal Road towards the City limits. A washout has occcured along the side of the road. The City of Fredericton EMO will continue to remain active through the night and into Sunday.
