In retrospect, I reminisce that NY City intimidated and scared me in 1977 when I spent a week at a music master class on Riverside Drive and again in the early 80s when I was a bit naive...and yet now its one of the cities Im most comfortable in. ...the damn MTA #1 turns into an express train at 2am making me have to back track to head to the Monster, a piano bar upstairs and a small dance club downstairs. This club has outlived any other bar/club in any other city and hasnt changed since the 1980s....good reliable Broadway piano bar upstairs and dance club in the basement..Tuesday is retro night playing old disco funk. (I was one of the paler ones as well as one of the youngest.....and definitely NOT the best dancer.)
