"In terms of spatial efficiency Iceland’s architects excel, being able to cram about two too many families into each of these blocks. But in terms of aesthetics, they float right to the top of the “average" pool. Like a dead fish. "Once in a while you run into an architectural anomaly like Hallgrímskirkja. And by once in a while, I actually mean once: Hallgrímskirkja. Which to be honest, if it wasn’t so invasively tall in a city so fond of buildings of a modest height, might be offensively plain in itself.
