In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9 (NIV) The Israelites are thanking God for their salvation. God has come through for them with His hand of judgment and the dispersing their enemies. They had been looking for deliverance from their enemies with anticipation. God has come through and now they are free. We are always to thank God for what He does for us. We must be careful not to misplace our trust in Him once we are delivered. What type of relationship do you have with God? Our relationship with God is dampened when we pursue happiness by cutting ignoring Him and being disobedient. Christ is the only person who can restore us and make us happy again. Our gladness results when we allow God to be with us. We do that by faithfully following Him and obeying His commands. Then God rejoices over us with singing. If you really want to be happy you need to draw close to the true source of happiness by obeying God. Our relationship with God begins with faith which enables us to realize that we are delivered from our past by Christ’s death. Our hope grows as we learn all that God has in mind for us. It gives us promise of the future. The Israelites with this prophecy were given hope and a promise for the future. Like the Israelites our hearts are filled with a love and thanksgiving for what God has done and is going to do. As our relationship with God grows we are more willing to reach out in love to others.
