In the 12 years I worked in Air/Ground Radio Air Traffic in Honolulu I had 2 planes ditch and both pax in the aircraft were saved, even though one guy broke his leg and still managed to climb into the raft. Then a wave knocked him out of the raft. He got back in but was having a bad day. Still get nervous even when I think about losing an aircraft while they were under my radio control. It happens...yet pretty rare.
