In the 60s, an actor named Kent McCord was cast in a potential new show called Adam-12. Mr. McCord was not happy with this because he was quite against the level of police brutality that seemed to be constantly displayed by the news throughout or nation. But he took the job because it was just that... a job. During several ride-alongs, even though he wasnt in uniform, he was subjected to a lot of abuse. From the public. One person even tried to kick him in the face. His tune changed. Do I believe all police officers are saints? No. But I dont believe theyre all sinners, either. What I DO believe is that every single one of them is human. I also believe that, before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. For my Great-Grandfather, KIA in 1889. For my brother, thankfully retired. For my friend Edward Joseph Nickerson, and all those who still put themselves in harms way to protect and to serve. Lets be safe out there.
