In the Archives While researching patron questions or processing collections, State Archives staff occasionally find records that entertain and amuse them. The Florida Shrimp Christmas Tree recipe card is a favorite among the staff. The Florida Board of Conservation created and circulated this recipe card in 1966 to encourage people to include shrimp in their holiday festivities. The recipe card is from the State Board of Conservation Marketing Subject Files, 1965-1976 (Series S1159), which contains correspondence, promotional materials, reports and newspaper clippings of the Board’s marketing department. The series documents the promotion of seafood consumption and the development of the seafood industry in Florida.
