In the Celtic pagan Wheel of the Year, tomorrow is known as IMBOLC - TopicsExpress

In the Celtic pagan Wheel of the Year, tomorrow is known as IMBOLC in the southern hemisphere. It is the day midway between the Winter Solstice (Yule) and the Spring Equinox (Oestre). Imbolc means “in the belly” and it is reminding us that in the belly of the earth life is stirring, reawakening; and the first signs of the coming Spring can be seen in early flowering bulbs and shrubs, and the buds forming on many more plants. This is the second of eight celebrations or sabbats in the Wheel of the Year. It is a particularly feminine festival which is often associated with the fire goddess Bride/Brigid, who signals the coming months of progressively more light and warmth - though the sun, the god, is still young at this time. The Key Words associated with this festival include: returning light, infancy, innocence, creativity, dawn, hope, first shoots, new beginnings. From a personal/psychological perspective, this is the time to clarify the hopes, dreams and goals we would like to ‘harvest’ in the months ahead. It is a time for not only sowing these inner seeds but a reminder of the need to nurture them to fruition, as we would seeds planted in the garden. If you wish, you can burn a white or yellow candle in honour of the growing sun,and spend a little time contemplating and planning those desired future achievements. The card I most associate with this sabbat is THE EMPRESS – creative, nurturing and frequently pregnant with ideas, if not more! Other cards: The Aces and the Pages of each suit. Blessed be!
