In the New Gods-related comics of Jack Kirby, a gods best friend was his Mother Box, which usually resembled an iPhone or an iPad (and this was in 1971, folks!) but was in fact a life form capable of expressing miraculous powers and emitting maternal, nurturing love onto its user. This week Apple introduced the iPhone 6, and they rolled out iPad Air (which has almost completely replaced my MacBook) less than a year ago. They may not be Mother Boxes, but its as if Jacks imagination leapt more than 40 years ahead to see where computer technology--not even at the point of bulky desktop PCs and 5-inch floppy disks at the time--was going.
