In the first book of Romans, in the greeting / introduction - TopicsExpress

In the first book of Romans, in the greeting / introduction Romans 1:1-7 The Apostle Paul writes to the Church of Rome and in his greeting/ introduction, which was the custom of day, he used a certain format typical of the writings of the time. He first identifies himself, his title (servant/Apostle of Jesus Christ), his states these qualifications come from God himself, and he attests and is a witness to Christs deity by the power of the holy spirit and being a firsthand witness to Jesus Christs resurrecting from the dead, and all this took place to fulfill the prophecies given by the prophets in the Old Testament (Holy Scriptures) that Jesus was from the seed of David and in fact the promised Messiah, Son of God. He is addresses himself as ... 1) A Servant, 2) Who is Called ... if one is called ... one is being called by God himself ... 3) to be an Apostle ... one of the big 12 4) He is also set apart unto the Gospel of God which means set apart to write parts of the Gospel/New Testament by the power of the Holy Spirit God was going to use Him to pen a large part of the NT 5) This gospel is specifically addressed to the Church of Rome ... that is why it is called Romans He is speaking to elect those called to be saints just like him ... He addresses those the elect in Rome and states his desire is to share in their common bond .... we have received grace and apostleship for obedience by faith among all nations for his (Jesus/Gods) name sake ... among ye who are called of Jesus Christ, beloved of God, called to be saints, Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ ... Everything God does is for His glory and the glory of His Son ... so if man receives grace and apostleship to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, we receive this gift so Gods goodness and grace and mercy may be glorified not because man deserves it ... Man is selected/elected, then called, and then used by God for GODS GLORY!! For example, Saul, the Apostle Pauls name before he was converted by Jesus, was a roman citizen, a Jew, a Pharisee, who persecuted Christians before he encountered Jesus (in angelic form - angel of the Lord appeared to him) on the Road to Damascus), and Jesus knocked him off His horse, blinded him, and converted spoke to him and within a short period of time Paul was converted and was used by God to write the majority of the New Testament. Romans 1 King James Version (KJV) 1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: 6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: 7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
