In the last 24 hours Ive received PMs accusing me of favoritism (in terms of the subjects of the photos that I post) toward south Texas, west Texas, and north Texas. Im laughing my head off. I must be doing something right! Yall need to keep in mind that a) this page is completely random and willy-nilly, with no overarching agenda and barely any administration b) the chances of me posting any photo from the past are mostly a function of how many photos were taken. Thats why, relatively speaking, Ive posted so many photos of Galveston, despite the fact that its current population is relatively small. The simple fact is that many, MANY photos have been taken in Galveston over the years, for a lot of reasons, and that increases the changes that one has survived in good condition all these years. c) This page depends in good part on yall and what you send to me. d) I do this completely by the seat-of-my-pants. Even when I program my page for a week in advance, I never know what the very next thing Im going to post is. I have to look, search, scour, make value judgements etc... And I do have an actual life beyond this page. A life in which I have to earn money, love my friends, pay my bills, go to the store, change my oil, sing at the top of my lungs, and so forth. I guess what Im saying is that I do the best I can to present all aspects of Texas history and culture and I promise you that I try to show favoritism to no area, or culture or race or anything else. Just whatever comes along. If I see a good photo of Texas, I post it, and it doesnt matter where it comes from. But I just got done answering an Private message accusing me of showing favoritism to west Texas when I got one accusing me of favoritism to south Texas and I really did laugh out loud. I love Texas and all of its geographies, physiographies, cultures, forms, and expressions. Dont make me no nevermind which part of the state it comes from; if I think yall will find it interesting, I post it.
