In the last year Ive tried to stop posting photos on my page which are poor, either out of focus or bad composition but tonight Im making an exception. The weathers been pretty wet up here over the last few days, but this afternoon we had a few hours of mainly dry, sunny (ish) conditions, so we took the opportunity to get out of the house for a drive. As we drove along one of our old favourite roads for looking out the stags we spotted a old couple parked up at the side of the road looking out across the loch with video camera and binoculars. Now this loch is also one of our favourites for nice reflections especially in the autumn as the colours in the trees on the opposite bank start to appear, but the reflections and colours werent that good as there was a light breeze blowing down the loch. As we drove past I said to Lorraine I wonder if they have spotted something in the loch We drove on slowly about another 200 yrds when I spotted this beauty sitting in a tree on the opposite bank. We fumbled around in our kit bags trying to change our lenses to our 70-300mm and fit our 1.4x converters. By the time we had got out the car, it was in the air, flying a circle around the loch. Unfortunately I had forgotten that my converter wasnt working in autofocus and after attempting to take the first few shots I had to change to manual focus, which is pretty hard going when you have a fast moving osprey flying around with mainly trees as the background. As you can see they are slightly out of focus and I chose a shutter speed to slow for the conditions but hey-ho, Its the first time Ive photographed an osprey in our local area :)
