In the lead up to the war in Iraq I watched, read and listened to CNN, the Washington Post and NPR (the closest we could come then to politically neutral sources) and waited for somebody to say what I believed-- the war was misguided if not downright wrong-- NOBODY spoke up. The hawks denigrated those of us who expressed skepticism about invading Iraq. Men like my husband who served in the Viet Nam era military and who disagreed were labeled cowards and traitors by the gung ho war hawks. We may have started out in the middle of the political spectrum then but they pushed us to the liberal/progressive side.
