In the past I have been asked "Why have a Black Chamber of Commerce?" Well here is a real world example. Most, if not all of you know that the NFL Team, the San Francisco 49ers will be playing in a brand new football stadium next year right? You also probably know that the stadium cost $1.3 Billion Dollars. Many contractors (big and small businesses) got paid to build the stadium, but do you know that not a single African-American owned business was included?... Or any minority owned business for that matter? Well the Black Chamber of Commerce got wind of this and went to bat for our community. As a result a local, African-American owned business was awarded a contract for over 1 million dollars... And this is only the beginning. The black chamber has urged the managing entities of the new stadium that the business generated through its construction should be spread to all businesses who qualify throughout the entire community. No one gets left out from a piece of the pie. The Black Chamber works to make sure of that.
