In the previous posting, the link with the detailed annotated artist’s impression shows the structure of the Milky Way Galaxy and we can readily observe how the spiral arms form in this configuration with the whole structure rotating clockwise. If we imagine a sphere of gravitational influence about the size of a large marble around each of the 200-400 billion stars, we can readily appreciate that the major concentration will be in the plane of the spiral arms, just above and below, then becoming less concentrated from about 60-90 degrees above and below with the angle determined from the centre point of the galaxy. We can see that there will be two narrow funnel shaped jets of relatively weaker gravitational influence pointing upwards and downwards at right angles to the plane at the centre point of the galaxy. This is almost precisely what we see happening in real time with the jets emanating at right angles from the central astrophysical objects of galaxies as the following images link demonstrates. Magnetism & ionization also are thought to have some role in shaping the jets. https://google.au/search?q=Supermassive+black+hole&sa=X&espv=210&es_sm=93&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAGOovnz8BQMDAy8HsxKnfq6-gWFajmnZPceYDAvlko8cMYfYeW5ed05YsywWAAfKMIUqAAAA&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=dgkfU96gBMeWkgXd6ICACQ&ved=0CEEQsAQ&biw=833&bih=535 Images of supermassive black holes
