In the spring of 2013, MK Safety Net held its first conference, An Unexpected Journey, in Chicago. When planning for the conference, we wondered if we could get speakers who were well known in their field, if attendance would be good and if the conference would make any press. The conference met those expectations! Our speakers included a world-famous author and a well-known attorney whose non-profit leads investigations into abuse. We drew attendees from all over the country. The Chicago Tribune and Christianity Today sent reporters and wrote articles about the conference. We were happy about all those things. However, our main objective was to provide a conference that would encourage and help MK abuse survivors. It wasn’t until we read the evaluation forms that we knew our conference was a success. “At the MK Safety Net Conference I felt like a tsunami of healing energy washed over me, churning out the debris and leaving me much more healed than when I arrived two days earlier. Absolutely a life-changing event.” “The conference was a place to be gut-wrenchingly real and still feel safe.” “I appreciated the welcome and acceptance; not needing deep explanations for understanding.” “MK survivors were able to make meaningful connections with those they felt could help them in their journey.” MK Safety Net is planning a second conference, Journeying Together, for April 17-19, 2015 in Atlanta, GA. Once again, we hope to provide a healing experience for MK survivors of abuse. Would you consider helping us achieve that goal by providing a scholarship for a worthy attendee or by helping with conference expenses? You can give online at form.jotform.us/form/42596973090162 or by printing the form and sending a check to MK Safety Net Conference, c/o Linda Tripp, MK Safety Net Canada, 125 Milne Place Rockwood, ON N0B 2K0 Your donation can make a real difference in the life of an MK abuse survivor who has journeyed alone far too long! Sincerely, Catherine Darnell MK Safety Net Canada
