In the summer of 1990 I had a profound honor and extreme learning - TopicsExpress

In the summer of 1990 I had a profound honor and extreme learning experience while I was in Hoonah, Alaska (southeast Alaska, Chichagof Island). As part of my thesis work I boarded and observed purse seiners in action. I was in awe to say the least. Commercial fishing is one of the hardest professions there is in my opinion. You are subject to the whims of the oceans, seas, and legislators. Given that background people find it strange that there are so many women commercial fishermen, but it really is not that uncommon in Alaska. I highly recommend both of these books. Do any of you have other experiences to add?
