In the summer of 1997 Elizabeth Ryan was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She courageously fought her strongest, but six short months later she would lose her battle to cancer. However, in those six months and the nine years she shared with us, she taught us things people will never learn in many lifetimes. Elizabeth taught us to be strong, not only for ourselves but for those around us, as she herself was rarely the one shedding tears. She taught us to be courageous. Without a doubt she had fears, but through her courage she was able to overcome them; taking each challenge she was faced with head on, from the little girl crying because she was going to loose her hair to the confident individual who wouldnt even wear a wig because she just wanted to be herself. Most importantly Elizabeth taught us to laugh and enjoy our time here because we never know how short it may be. She would light up the whole room with laughter, whether it was making funny noises or cracking jokes about how starving she was from the chemotherapy. She served as an inspiration to all of us and on her birthday we remember the great values she taught us through this campaign. All funds raised will be donated to Making Headway to be used directly for brain tumor research. Making Headway Foundation is a non-profit organization that helped Elizabeth during her battle. They recognize the need for support in the entire family that goes through such a struggle; supporting children and their family from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. They pride themselves on countering fear through laughter and love just as Elizabeth taught us to, and there is no better way to continue on with her spirit than supporting a cause that so closely exemplifies her values and the lessons she taught us. bit.ly/LittleBit2014
