In the true spirit of Thanksgiving and what November means we as a family are going to do a month of grateful and thankful fors. Because today is the third, tonight well catch up. Well put 3 of them up. Join us in telling us what you are thankful/grateful for. We find when we focus on the positives here even when things are all messed up, it just gives us one more thing to smile about and reminds us not to dwell on the negative. Thats really helped Em. Example: Today she forgot her purse. She uses it to hold her colored pencils, pencils and pens. Any little thing that she *THINKS* she might remotely need. Its also a comfort for her to have. So when she called me and told me she forgot it, I asked her what she needed out of it. She told me. I asked her if there was a way she could borrow the stuff for the day from her special ed teacher (knowing the answer was yes) and she said but I really need it. Im more comfortable when I have it. I asked again what she wanted me to do about it. Short of walking in the cold cold weather (its cold but not that cold) there was no way for her to get it. She sighed, and said in a fairly upbeat voice, I can borrow the stuff from my teacher. I said are you sure? She said yes and have a good day mom love you bye. Then my phone whent dead. Mind you she was still in a good mood. We focused on the positive being she still had access to what she needed. We acknowledged that she feels better with HER stuff. And in the end she figured out that solution was ok. Not great but ok. I didnt get mad. I didnt get upset. I laid out the facts for her and let her come to the same conclusion I had. She didnt NEED it. She WANTED it but could live without it for ONE day.
