In the wake of the appalling violence on our streets last night by unionist and loyalist supporters- I feel this action is long overdue. I was disappointed enough, (having voted Yes) but my mood rapidly turned to disgust. I have started a petition on change.org, aimed at the Scottish Parliament, urging them to dissolve and outlaw the bigoted and intolerant organisation known as the Orange Order- preventing its antagonistic marches and making it illegal to set up similar bigoted groups. This organisation serves only to divide us. There is a rift in Scottish culture, that much has been true for decades, even centuries- but that does not mean we cant stand up and do something about it right now in 2014 I urge Glasgow Skeptics to sign and share this petition in order to get the maximum exposure it needs to make a substantial impact. The bigotry, sectarianism, violence and murder has gone one long enough. In the wake of the greatest display of democracy this country has ever seen, we do not need to be further divided.
