In these days of theological chaos in Christianity, it is easy to be wooed by a fascinating doctrine that sounds really good. But false doctrines rarely sound as evil or dangerous as they actually are. This may be the most hostile environment ever for a novice believer, since it is utterly impossible for anyone without a thorough and mature knowledge of the Bible to actually know when he is being deceived - and there are many, many deceivers. Truth can only be confirmed and verified by someone who has genuine mastery of Gods Word - from Genesis to Revelation, not a novice. This is no time to be presumptuous about what you believe. Dont say that the Bible is too hard to understand, and start making excuses for dumbed-down religion. Dumbed-down religion will send you to Hell. Do NOT take for granted that your Church is preaching the right Gospel. Most Churches nowadays are NOT preaching the true gospel. If you sincerely want to spend ETERNITY in the presence of God, how can you not believe that studying and knowing Gods Word is worth any and all efforts? Throw out the entertainment and amusements in your life, and give yourself to know God through His Word. Everything and everybody will try to hinder you, but in the end, it is the only way you can ever be sure of your salvation. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, 2 Timothy 2:15.
