In this mornings Pune Mirror I saw a letter to the Editor from one Sub Maj (Retd) Kar. He has suggested that instead of having schools/colleges lose out on teachers due to election duties, retired Armed Forces/ Para military/ Police and other retired Govt personnel could be utilised for such duties. I think its a brilliant idea! Organisations like the Air Force Association, Army and Naval Foundation and other Associations of Retired Govt personnel could offer the services of its members to the Election Commission. These people could be paid an honorarium for their services.
