In this world of chaos, any man without a mentor will soon run out of method. Mentor according to the Webster comprehensive dictionary is a wise and trusted teacher, guide and friend; an elderly monitor or adviser. Mentor is someone who shares the same vision with you, they must have achieve that vision you want to attain, they must be wise to give you direction to your dream, so as to avoid trail and error and to limit accident. Why most people die before getting to the top is due to lack of a good mentor, how? Exodus 18:13-19 we see Moses burning himself out trying to judge the Israelite (more than thousand people) and if not for the intervention of Jethro, I don’t think Moses will have been able to cope with the situation, he will just get frustrated, many are dying because they see them self has an island on their own, they refuse to seek advice from those who have gone ahead of them. Even the bible say’s in Jeremiah 6:16; “stand at the cross road and look for; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul”. You can’t seek an ancient path from one who has not gone through it before. And your mentor determine your method, watch around the world today, see people been mentored by Bishop David Oyedepo, they speak and react just like him i.e. you possess the spirit of your mentor, let’s look at few people who their mentor actually affect their method; Abraham lied about his wife- Isaac lied ABOUT HIS WIFE (*note your parent are you first mentor) Abraham first son didn’t make the inheritance of the first born- Isaac first son never make the inheritance Moses lead the people through red sea- Joshua led them through River Jordan Moses kill kings, Joshua kill kings David womanize, Solomon womanize **Son of Eli fumble, son of Samuel fumble Solomon suffer the children of Israel (1 king 12:4) Rehoboam in vs. 10 promise to do same Elijah killed innocent captain with fire, Elisha curse innocent children jeering at him Elijah path the water, Elisha also path the water Let’s stop there, Quality to look for before choosing a mentor He/she must be born again and God fearing He/she must have pass through were you are about to pass. In other word he should have achieve what you desire to achieve He/she must be wise to direct you He/she must constantly encourage and provoke you towards your dream He should be someone who your spirit feel free with He must be God-approved How to choose a Mentor Ask God for a leading Consider his/her family and his/her way of life Check is achievement, if it shows the picture of where you are heading to *NOTE: YOUR MENTOR IS NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND OR GIRLFRIEND, NOT YOUR ATM, SO AVOID OVER FAMILIARITY, BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE TOO FAMILIAR WITH GRACE YOU WILL SOON BE DISGRACE.
