In todays episode of At the Center in Smithfield, VA, Sheba sneaks the lid off of the trash can and takes a siesta, Chiweenie poses with his new winter weather attire and Waylon, one of the feral dogs from the hoarding situation, learns to trust humans with the help of another dog, Stormy. When we have dogs that simply are petrified to let a human touch them, we have to pull out every trick in the book. Remember when you were young and your mom let you lick the batter out of a bowl when she was baking a cake? Well, sometimes, our less socialized dogs respond in that same excited manner when they get to lick the bowl. Waylon got a little closer when tempted with mac & cheese. After that, Julie sat on the other side of the gate with our very social, calm resident, Stormy. Little, by little Stormy showed Waylon that humans can be o.k.
