Incarnation (theological meaning): Incarnation literally means in the flesh. It refers to the historic act whereby the eternal Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, without ceasing to be God, took upon Himself our human nature and became fully human. This was not a temporary persona, a disguise or a mask; it was an irreversible union of the divine and the human. In His life, Christ was fully God and fully human; in His death the crucified God was revealed in His suffering humanity as He reconciled the world to Himself; and in His resurrection Christ took His transformed humanity with Him into eternal glory (John 1:14; Rom 1:3; 5:8; 8:3; Gal 4:4; Eph 2:15; Phil 2:7-8; Col 1:19-20, 22; 1 Tim 3:16; 1 John 4:2; 2 John 7; Rev 5:6-9).
