Incident number one: On November 14th, 2014 at 5:30pm Officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Astro Title Max Loans located at 223 S. Green Bay Road for an attempted armed robbery. An employee of the business stated that a male black suspect in his 20’s, thin build, and approximately 5’9”entered the business and demanded cash. When the employee told the suspect they had no cash in the business, he lifted his shirt and displayed a hand gun tucked into his waist band. The suspect then fled the scene. It is unknown if the suspect left the general area on foot or in a car. No one was injured and nothing was taken. No pictures are available of this incident. Incident number two: On November 21st, 2014 at 6:00pm Officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Illinois Cash Advance located at 1352 N. Green Bay Road for a business panic alarm. Upon arrival officers spoke to an employee that stated a male black suspect, in his late teen or early 20’s, thin build, clean shaven, and average height robbed the business at gun point and fled. Cash was taken during the robbery, but the Waukegan Police Department is not releasing the amount for security reasons. It is unknown if the suspect left the general area on foot or in a car. Incident number three: On November 21st, 2014 at 11:30pm Officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a residence in the 500 block of Water Street for an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers spoke to two victims that lived together in the same home. Both victims stated that they were approached at their residence and forced inside at gunpoint. Once inside the suspect, described as a male black, 5’9”, 170 pounds, mid 20’s, light brown eyes, and a freshly cut goatee, took cash and cell phones from them. The amount of cash taken is not being released. It is believed that the suspect fled in a four door gold colored sedan with rust on it. Incident number four: On November 22nd, 2014 at 7:00pm Officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of Glen Rock Avenue and Lincoln Street for the report of an attempted armed robbery to a person. Upon arrival officers attempted to approach a male black subject in the area. That subject fired one round at the responding police officers and then fled on foot. The subject was not located. Currently this subject is being described as a male black, in his middle to late 20’s, thin build, and approximately 5’8”. The Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation’s Division (CID) is currently investigating all three incidents. The CID is not prepared to say the suspect is the same in all four incidents; however the general descriptions do match. The CID is asking anyone with information on these incidents to call them on the Waukegan Police Department’s “Tip Line” at 847-360-9001. The Waukegan Police Department also wants to remind its residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and immediately call 911 if they see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
