As part of the process, the Social Security Administration retains your birth certificate. Its supposed to be mailed back around the same time that the passport arrives. However, Kennedys birth certificate never came back. We actually didnt know what to do about it, but finally, after about a month, they telephoned us to say that it had accidentally been misrouted and they would mail it out ASAP. But it still never came. Its been like four months now, and we simply figured it was a lost cause and wed need a replacement someday. Today, it arrived NEXT DAY AIR by UPS. That sure was twenty of our tax dollars well spent!
