Incredible presentation on Why Nuclear Power is not the answer to climate change. This important to add this to the conversation (nuclear is often left out of the equation in environmental discussions--why this is puzzles me to no end...) We brought the Indigenous Dine (Navajo) Speaker and Activist Leona Morgan, to Stony Brook on Tuesday, 9/20 --and she talked to my students about the horrors of uranium mining on her community in the Four Corners region. Uranium kills, destroys genes, causes cancer (present and future generations) and other disease, and has left a horrible and polluted legacy on native lands and in many countries. Reparations, clean ups, etc, have not been made by the U.S. govt. or the nuclear industry. This is only one aspect of the nuclear cycle that is killing us. Most people have no idea of the full cycle and extent of what goes into nuclear power, and the long-terms dangerous legacy of spent fuel and nuclear waste. We are being poisoned. Listen and learn here from an important panel of experts why nuclear is NOT the answer.
