India Flood update: On 22nd July, more than 900 equines stranded at Govindghat for over 4 weeks have been rescued by the construction of a temporary bridge on the Alaknanda River. Seventy five mules/horses have traveled over rocky and difficult tracks and reached their homes in Bijnor district on 27th. The Brooke India team led by Dr Imran, met the equines owners and conducted health checks of the equines and provided treatment to those wounded. He observed that a majority of the equines were exhausted with very low body score. The Brooke India team continues to carry out resuscitation treatment and has provided free balanced feed to the affected equines. Another batch of 14 equines are on their way home, and our team will keep treating them.
