India is in election fever and if we have to believe the poll - TopicsExpress

India is in election fever and if we have to believe the poll surveys then we are heading towards a Govt headed by Modi. Many are happy that he is going to be our next PM but a lot of people do fear about the future of India. India has witnessed many religious riots in the past but many believe that the biggest are yet to come. Is this fear unfounded? Will Modi be the reason for another religious riot in India? I do not think anybody will say that Modi started the Gujarat riot, he might have taken advantage from it, but the basic issue was always there. He did not create it, it was created by us. It is not Mislims or Christains who are in the minority here, it is the secular people who are really the minority in India. If you look at the west the secular people are the majority and so they seldom have any religious riots. We create a division among the people by not practising secularism. It is there everywhere, it is there in every aspect of our life. The way we dress, the names we give to our children, the way we do everything is to create a separate identity for each ones religion or caste. And by doing that we declare to others that we are a separate group and you are not like us. We are dividing the society, creating hatred and suspicion between people based on beliefs. For us God is not a private affair between an individual and the almighty, it is something to be boasted, something to make others look smaller. After dividing the society like that we weeps on people not respecting your beliefs. When you treat somebody not part of your group then you are making him an enemy. He looks upon you as somebody to be hated. He had serious suspicion on your activities. He thinks that you are plotting to destroy him. He definitely thinks that you are his enemy and will wait for an opportunity to destroy you. That is why you have to ask why riots do not happen so often in India instead of why it is happening. And when it happens there will be people who will take advantage of it. Politics is about taking advantage of the issues in the society and you cannot change that.
