Indigenous Peoples do not take action simply to confront the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or go to prison. We do it to assert and maintain our Aboriginal Title and Rights. We do not take our liberty that lightly. But we see very few alternatives in Canada today. We depend on our territory for our livelihood. Mining turns this economic system upside down, especially in view of the Imperial Metals catastrophic tailings spill that happened in Secwepemc Territory near Likely, BC on August 4, 2014. - Arthur Manuel
