Individuals with disabilities have been a vital part of the fabric - TopicsExpress

Individuals with disabilities have been a vital part of the fabric of human history but somehow stories and events related to them don’t make it to the history books or major museums. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History seeks to change that with the launch of “Everybody: An Artifact History of Disability in America” to explore themes and events related to the history of people with disabilities in the U.S. and offer a new perspective on American history. The online exhibit was launched on June 25, 2013 and features themes such as identity and stereotypes, home and work life, institutions and eugenics. This is a one-of-a-kind exhibit launched to display objects and stories collected by the Smithsonian over the course of 50 years. The website is available at everybody.si.edu.
