Industrial Tri-partite Committee for Sales Promotion Employees The Sales Promotion Employees (Conditions of Service) Act, 1976, had been amended to include the following ten industries within the ambit of the Act, w.e.f 31.01.2011. 1. Cosmetics, Soaps, Household cleaners and disinfectants 2.Readymade garments 3.Soft drink manufacturing industries 4.Biscuits and confectioneries 5.Ayurvedic, Unani and Homeopathic medicines 6.Automobiles including accessories and spare parts 7.Surgical equipments, artificial prosthesia and diagnostics 8.Electronics, computers including accessories and spares 9.Electrical appliances 10.Paints and varnishes In this context, the Ministry of Labour and Employment had convened a preliminary meeting on 28th June, 2013 to seek the views of employers and employees in setting up of an Industrial Tripartite Committee for Sales Promotion Employees. The meeting was attended by representatives from different Central Government Ministries, State Governments, Employers’ Associations, Trade Union Organisations and Special invitees from the Federation of Sales Promotion Employees. The core function of the Tripartite Committee, with representation from Employers, Trade Unions and Government, is to draw agendas and recommend necessary actions for the welfare of the Sales Promotion employees. To develop employer’s perspective on the subject, FICCI and AIOE are organising a Consultative Roundtable on ‘Industrial Tri-partite Committee for Sales Promotion Employees’ on 26th August, 2013 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at FICCI, Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi.
