Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch, firing in Akhnoor sector Poonch, July 26: The army on Friday night foiled a ‘major’ infiltration bid in border area of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said Saturday. Sources told GNS that a group of militants on Thursday at around 9:00 pm, a group of militants tried to sneak into this side bear Peeli Poona and Raja Terkie 485 posts along Line of Control (LoC). “A group of 12 to 14 militants had entered 200 meters into this side but after spotting them, the troops of 5 Grenadiers fired upon intruders and foiled their attempt,” intelligence sources said, the firing continued till 11:00 pm between two sides. Sources said the army on Saturday morning carried a search operation along LoC in Mendhar and disallowed people to go near fence areas. “A high alert has been along LoC,” they said. Meanwhile, reports said Pakistan troops fired on Indian posts in Akhnoor sector along LoC in Jammu region.
