Info about Rugby League Norges progression plus confirmed fixtures for 2015. Rugby League Norge has taken several major steps forward in its development of the sport in Norway by appointing a host of new representatives, voting in a new organisational structure, reaffirming the game’s core values and finalising the domestic league fixtures for the 2015 season. At the rugby body’s annual general meeting, which was held on Saturday 6 December 2014, Enrique Guy was named president and Lars Haigh was appointed his vice-president. It has also been agreed that Anne Haigh will continue as the manager of the Norwegian national team. A new organisational structure has been decided upon, whereby the voted-in representative of each club becomes its respective president. A top-down support function has also been created to aid the development of all league teams, with Jostein Ryan returning to the fold to oversee match officials, current players Isaac Schmidt, David Hunter and Joshua William Skidmore-Hornby taking on overall coaching duties for the league and NRF board member Kathrine Steinvik assuming control of rugby league responsibilities at the top level. Furthermore, it has been unanimously agreed that the domestic league will continue in its current 13-a-side format, consisting of both a western and an eastern conference (see fixtures, below). The west will comprise Flekkefjord Tigers, Porsgrunn Pirates and new side Farsund Bobcats, while the east will be made up of defending champions Oslo Capitals, the returning Bodo Barbarians and a one-year-only joint-venture team made up of players from Lillestrom and Trondheim. A secondary nine-a-side format will be open to the current domestic league sides and also consist of development teams from Arendal, Tromso and Sandnes, which will be looking to join the 13-a-side league structure in coming seasons. All clubs have agreed to adopt a set of guidelines that encourage each team’s members to respect the core values of the sport - excellence, integrity, self-discipline and humility. It has also been determined that all clubs look to develop new ways of engaging with their local communities, whether through initiatives with people and companies in their regions or functions within their club structure.
