Info via Paul Teepen: Von: Iga Niznik, ARCHE NOAH Betreff: [Seed-Update] Update from AGRI: Rejection Datum: Tue, 28 Jan 2014 10:53:40 +0100 Dear Friends, Some news about yesterdays coordinators meeting: They agreed to have a rejection with motion for resolution. This means that the rejection can be achieved in several steps: 1.) AGRI committee must adopt a rejection: February 11th 2.) Plenary must adopt a motion for rejection: March? 3.) Then Commission can withdraw the proposal: ? few weeks after 4.) If commission does not withdraw: The Parliament then has to vote another time in plenary to once more confirm the rejection: April, ore more likely: after elections! Tricky thing: the time might be too short for the present parliament to go for the 2nd rejection vote in plenary. This means that if Commission does not withdraw, this second vote might be done only in the newly elected Parliament. They will again have to decide what to do with it: continue work? Reject? =>>> Lobbying challenge for us! =>>>> Seeds in the election campaigns.! To my understanding, between the 1st and the 2nd vote in the Parliament, the 1461 tabled amendments do not get lost. In any case, the present Parliament will work on a political resolution on seeds. This kind of solution is very rare and very political - they had to contact the legal service during the meeting to make sure they understand the consequences. Of course, we need to make sure that this plan does not change for the worse. Best wishes Iga _______________________________________________ European-Seed-Campaign Mailingliste
