Information Alert Update - Flood Warning For Red Deer And All Points Between Posted: June 20,2013 From: Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Issued: Thu Jun 20 3:05 PM 2013 Parts of Central Alberta, Parts of Southern Alberta expand.. Flood Warnings are in effect for streams in the Red Deer, Bow and Oldman River basins. The Red Deer River upstream of Gleniffer Reservoir including the Town of Sundre has been upgraded to a Flood Warning. Rising stream levels will result in flooding of areas adjacent to the stream affected. See Details for more information. Advisories apply to streams and their tributaries unless otherwise noted. In the Red Deer River basin, the Red Deer River upstream of Gleniffer Reservoir including the Town of Sundre has been upgraded to a Flood Warning. The Flood Warning remains in effect for the Little Red Deer River. In the Bow River basin, Flood Warnings remain in effect for tributaries of the Bow River upstream of Calgary including Cougar Creek, Elbow River upstream of Glenmore Dam, Elbow River downstream of Glenmore Dam including the City of Calgary, Sheep River, Highwood River and its tributaries and the Bow River downstream of the City of Calgary including the City of Calgary. In the Oldman River basin, Flood Warnings remain in effect for Oldman River downstream of the Oldman Dam and Willow Creek. Since Wednesday morning, an intense low pressure system has brought 80 to 120 mm of precipitation to an area between Waterton Park and Banff; local amounts of up to 200 mm in the upper Sheep River basin have been recorded. High rainfall intensities of up to 20 mm/hr have caused flash flooding conditions and mud slides in many mountain and foothill locations in the Bow River basin. An additional 50 mm is possible today in these regions. Instructions: Be cautious of the rising water levels and take appropriate precautionary measures. Take appropriate measures to avoid flood damage.
