Initially I was a excited to see a Hypebeast + PDX based artist collaboration...and man oh man. This is the DULLEST project I have seen that involves spray paint. Normally I wouldnt think too much of this, and would shrug it off. But, living in a city with so many young, creative and talented artists and musicians, hearing about another hip hop show shut down by police and seeing SO LITTLE street art and graffiti...Im baffled. I think this video is somehow symbolic of the creative landscape in Portland right now. This project is like the antithesis of graffiti! [Also, these cans are selling for $50]. Hip hop [and street art] is visible and celebrated in SO MANY parts of the country [albeit with challenges and opposition] and the world, it baffles me that Portland is becoming a place void of it. Also, maybe Im just home sick. I miss attitude. And personality.
