Initiative Summary: The MENA Intiative is a component of the New Tactices in Human Rights Program, at the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT), which connects the broad human rights community around the world to share experiences and exchange resources and tactical ideas to advance human rights through training and online networking. Location: Based in Amman, Jordan Summary of the position: The New Tactics MENA Online Community Builder engages human rights advocates from the MENA region in online exchange and dialogue, and manages the Arabic website and content. Responsibilities & Duties : 1. Content Management and Creation Develop a yearly coordinated participatory action plan for the management of the NT- Website to advance Human Rights and to be as a main reference for Human Rights organizations and HRDs in MENA region. Key responsibilities will include: Management of the Arabic website content by serving as the point-person for the team in adding new content to the website Develop and publish tactic content (written, video, image, audio, etc.) for website based on information shared in the online conversations Work with the MENA and US-based New Tactics team to build an online training space for the New Tactics training program that can be accessed by a wide network of stakeholders and update training materials on regular bases. Coordinate, share and promote the research materials and tactics produced by the research team and partners. Support the innovative documentation for the MENA training program activities and share it with wider stakeholders and networks. 2. Online Community MENA Online Community Building Identifying organizations and capture contact information for outreach regarding potential conversation facilitators/partners and participants Coordinate, host and facilitate New Tactics Arabic online conversations Help to identify English language online dialogue participants from the MENA region Manage the New Tactics Arabic/MENA Hub social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) and coordinate on regular daily and monthly topics to be disused and shared with targeted audiences. Expand the New tactics follower by adapting new innovative techniques that can attract HRDs to join the pages (Facebook, Twitter, newsletter, and website followers). Write and send the Arabic New Tactics Newsletter (using MailChimp) and to seek the MENA team feedback and ideas for the development of the Newsletter. Keep track of key performance indicators to help us track the impact, success and room for improvement of our Arabic online community efforts. 3. Website Support and Coordination Coordinate feedback mechanism and input on the further development of the Arabic website Communicate all website issues to the Online Community Builder in a timely manner. 4. Promotion and Outreach Develop and implement the MENA online outreach plan (e.g., strategic use of social media) Share with MENA Partners the New Tactics approaches on the use of electronic tools for NT training materials. Produce stories (and share on social media, newsletter, YouTube, etc.) and press releases to cover and promote the MENA- New Tactics Program in MENA. Manage and plan the NT MENA monthly newsletter in Arabic and and share it with NT stakeholders and networks. Qualifications: Strong commitment to advancing human rights. Human rights promotion in the MENA region, research and educational experience strongly preferred with at least 2-3 years of experience working in this field. Strong computer skills, preferably experience managing website content and the use of social media with proven examples(experience managing Drupal sites is extremely desirable). Excellent written and verbal communications skills in Arabic and English. Experience with developing regular communications (articles, blogs, newsletters, monthly reports, etc.).. Good detail organization and ability to manage multiple tasks at once within established deadlines, ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally and ability to work collaboratively within a small team. Work Environment Typical office environment. Time spent on the computer is approximately 85%.
