Inquiries are continuing after a man was hit by a car at Banora Point in the state’s north tonight (Monday 26 August 2013). Just after 6pm, an 84-year-old Banora Point man was crossing Leisure Drive at Banora Point when he was hit by a Toyota Tarago that was travelling east. The pedestrian was critically injured. A doctor and bystanders provided assistance to the injured man until the arrival of paramedics. The 84-year-old was taken to the Tweed Hospital where he died a short time later. Police spoke with a number of witnesses on scene. The male driver of the Tarago was not hurt in the crash and will undergo mandatory testing.
