Insaf Media Cell Analysis Brief of Print Media Wednesday June 19, 2013 The News / Daily Jang (19/06/2013) Article: PTI openers confused, Shafqat hits boundaries and worries for governor’s furniture "Amir Mateen" The onus of spearheading the PTI onslaught finally came on to Shafqat Mahmood. And he was not found wanting in crunch time. The PTI batting order looks dazed by the Parliament’s aura and may take more time to adjust. Shah Mahmood Qureshi did shoot a few salvos in his speech but it was more technical than political. Being a veteran of some 25 years since he left the DMG regalia to join politics, Shafqat Mahmood was dot on. His party seems a little shaky without ‘Kaptaan’. Javed Hashmi simply refuses to come ever since that debacle when he first declared Nawaz Sharif his “first and last Quaid” He was the first member to start off by thanking his voters. After all, he is the lone PTI winner from Lahore. “This budget hits the poor and is retrogressive,” SHafqat said while pointing out an anomaly in taxes on salaries in his speech in the National Assembly. Those who earn Rs50,000 monthly have to pay 25 percent tax whereas the ones who earn Rs250,000 have to pay 35 per cent less tax. He was not wrong that “it’s doesn’t make sense.” Shafqat set the stage for ‘Kaptaan’ to make an appearance today. We are told that Imran is not fully recovered but cannot resist the temptation to lead his team. While this will definitely boost his team, he chooses a wrong day. He will need to explain his Taliban policy, as does the PML-N, after the killing of second MPA in Pakhtunkhwa along with many others. Do we still need to talk to the butchers who do not even spare funerals or take action against them, one may ask.
