Intel to slash workforce by 5% this year - Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC), the worlds largest chipmaker, plans to cut its global workforce by about 5 percent this year as it is suffering from declining personal-computer sales, Reuters reported on Jan. 17, citing a company spokesman.
