Interested in birds? World renowned birding expert and artist Clive Hopcroft will answer this question and many more when he talks on “Bird Intelligence” at the next evening meeting of the Modderfontein Conservation Society. The meeting will take place in the Modderfontein Town Hall at 1 Casino Road on Thursday 20 June at 19:30. Over many years much work has been done to establish the levels of intelligence of various bird species. This has involved ornithologists (bird experts) all round the world whose vast research results are still in the melting pot. But do the results obtained in laboratories really reflect the true intelligence levels of birds? Clive Hopcroft is well known for his very informative and highly entertaining talks on birds and their doings. An Edenvale resident of many years, he has a deep insight into the habits and peculiarities of our feathered friends. The popularity of his talks can be gauged by the large number of people who have attended his many past presentations at Modderfontein. Clive’s lively wit and spirited presentation are always a delight. Visitors are welcome and it is suggested that you dress warmly for this mid-winter talk and maybe even bring a knee rug.
