Interested in working for the SPCA? The Yolo County SPCA is seeking a responsible individual with strong organizational, communication and time management skills and a positive, “can-do” attitude to work a minimum of 16-hours per week in an animal shelter environment. The applicant needs to have a flexible schedule and be able to work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • checking phone messages and responding to phone calls; checking and responding to email messages; • monitoring and maintaining a supply of educational materials in the office; • counseling potential adopters; • gathering information from members of the public bringing animals into the shelter; • maintaining up-to-date on-line listings of adoptable pets; • writing animal “biographies” for posting online; • writing promotional posts for the shelter’s Facebook page; • assisting with evaluations of shelter cats and dogs for adoption or rescue purposes. Qualifications: • Minimum high school degree or equivalent; • ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with volunteers, shelter employees and the public regarding shelter policies and general animal welfare topics; • attention to detail; • ability to work effectively independently and also as part of a team; • excellent written communication skills; • experience with cats and dogs. Previous animal shelter experience strongly preferred but not required.
