Interesting and fulfilling teaching week..... I just finished a skype lesson with a woman from Russia but I didnt know she couldnt speak english until a few minutes before our lesson. EEeeks for a split moment I got super nervous, lol then I prayed .....surrendered into another improvised lesson within an outline. She wrote something like lets use less words, more hearts, hands and voice Wow, luckily she naturally held the drum correctly without much instruction. Whole different world using hardly any words!!! Really wonderful, I am still smiling! and Wow, had a wonderful time stretching in learning how to teach a young blind woman to frame drum for the first time this week. I had to improvise in the moment the best words to describing how to just hold the drum and get the correct and best sounds out of the drum. I was a bit nervous about whether I would be able to. She was very intuitive and once she hit the sweet spots for each stroke her ears connected to the sound and how it made her feel. She went home with the drum and would like to continue depending on her finances. I feel very fulfilled today and grateful for these new opportunities to deepen my relationship to the drum through these drum lessons.... as I am learning my capacity to teach.
