She just entered the 6th grade and I was told that she needed a round of vaccinations. DTAP, meningococcal, and they wanted her to have an HPV vaccine & flu shot. Needless to say, I stopped vaccinating my children about 10 years ago so neither one have had the final rounds of DTAP or any meningococcal. The doctor preceded to tell me how I was making a very poor decision but, I still refused. I turned my daughters paperwork into the school and the school nurse preceded to call me and try to persuade me to at least get the meningococcal vaccine and DTAP because these 2 viruses are on the rise. I told her I would think about. I thought about it for about 2 seconds and decided absolutely not. My question is, if there does happen to be a meningitis outbreak what is the best thing to do to protect my children? Thank you.
